Our ionic liquid research involves fundamental investigations of their behavior as solvents. We are interested in how solvation energies and dynamics in these purely ionic media differ from the well-understood behavior of conventional dipolar solvents. On this basis we further seek to understand the slow and heterogeneous solvation in ionic liquids influences charge transport and charge transfer reactions occurring in this medium. |
